Hualien, with its relaxed pace and stunning scenery, is one of Taiwan’s most popular tourist destinations, loved by both local and international travelers. Our Hualien 2-Day Tour includes must-visit attractions such as Taroko National Park, the breathtaking Pacific coastline, and an immersive experience of the local indigenous culture, offering a rich and diverse travel adventure.
Highlights of the Taroko National Park and Hualien
Taroko National Park: Great Taroko Gorge
“Taroko” means “human being” in the language of the local Taroko indigenous tribe. Taroko Gorge is an impressive 19-kilometer-long canyon, famous for its spectacular mountains and marble cliffs stretching along the Liwu River. This unique landscape has also given rise to a diverse array of flora and fauna, making it one of Taiwan’s most popular attractions. For outdoor enthusiasts, the gorge offers several hiking trails of varying difficulty and scenic beauty, allowing visitors to choose routes that match their fitness and exploration preferences.
Buluowan Suspension Bridge: Panoramic Views of Taroko Gorge
Buluowan Suspension Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Taroko National Park and spans the greatest height above the valley. From the bridge, visitors can look down at the winding Liwu River, while the steep, layered mountains rise dramatically on both sides, creating a view that stretches from the valley floor up to the distant peaks. Looking east, you can admire the Liwu River valley along the riverside, and to the west, the rugged cliffs of Swallow Grotto come into view, offering a truly majestic panorama.
Jiuqudong: A Breathtaking Section of Taroko Gorge
Jiuqudong (The Tunnel of Nine Turns) is widely regarded as one of the most breathtaking sections of Taroko Gorge. This narrow gorge, with its steep cliffs rising dramatically on either side, offers a thrilling and majestic landscape. From its elevated vantage points, visitors can take in stunning views of the Liwu River below, making it an unforgettable highlight of the park.
Changchun Shrine: A Picturesque Memorial in Taroko Gorge
Changchun Shrine (Eternal Spring Shrine) is a Tang-style architectural structure, nestled into the mountainside. Fresh spring water gushes from the cliff, forming a cascading waterfall that resembles a beautiful traditional Chinese painting, making it one of the iconic landmarks of Taroko Gorge. The shrine also serves as a memorial to honor the workers who lost their lives during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway.
Exploring Indigenous Survival Skills at Hunter School
Hualien is rich in indigenous culture, with the Amis tribe being the largest group in the area. At the Hunter School, we learn primitive fire-starting techniques and how to weave rope and create water containers using natural plant fibers. These skills are essential for survival and hunting in the mountains, reflecting the harmonious and symbiotic relationship between indigenous people and Mother Earth.
Qixingtan (Seven Star Bay): Feel the Wind of Pacific Ocean
Qixingtan, located in the northeast of Hualien, is a crescent-shaped bay with a pebble beach stretching for several kilometers along the Pacific Ocean. This stunning natural setting is a favorite spot for locals to cycle, picnic, take leisurely walks, gaze at the sea, and simply relax and unwind.
