Highlights

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum
With a huge 108-meter golden statue of Buddha Amitaabha, Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum is the most prominent landmark in Kaohsiung. Apart from taking pictures with the Buddha, one can also circumambulate around the stupas. It is also the best place to know more about the core value of Buddhism. According to Master Hsing Yun, the Buddha Museum serves to acquaint the public with the Buddha’s quantities, through which the Buddhist practice can be inspired.

Dragon and Tiger Pagoda with Lotus Lake
Both dragon and tiger are ones of the twelve Chinese zodiac signs. Some Chinese people believe that those who are born in the Year of the Dragon are more blessed than others. Tigers symbolize prowess, righteousness, and harmony in Chinese culture. Chinese people believe tiger is the king of all animals. The dragon’s throat is the entrance and the lion’s mouth is the exit. Entering a dragon’s throat and coming out a lion’s mouth symbolizes turning bad luck to good fortune.

Qijin Island – Low Price Fresh Seafood!
Qijin Island is a small island just a 5 minute ferry journey from Kaohsiung Harbour. It’s a very exciting place to visit with lots to do and see. Cijin Island is reputed to be the best place to eat fresh seafood in Kaohsiung. As well as the attractions and food, the island offers a nice clean beach where the sea is lovely and warm for swimming. There is an excitement about Cijin Kaohsiung that makes it a tourist attraction worth repeating.

The Creative Zone in Kaohsiung – The Pier-2 Art Center
It was once an abandoned and forgotten warehouse buried in the history. However, the Pier-2 area was released and re-born, making the region a place where tourists and the locals can come to enjoy contemporary art. Sometimes there will be flea market on the weekends and attract many young designers to gather here.
