From south to north along the east coast of Taiwan
In this area we visited the dragon bridge (Sanxiantai Arch Bridge), hot springs, Mr. Brown Avenue and more. We left Taitung and travelled by Train to Yilan. A visit to the Kavelan distillery, cold springs and the Bitou Cape trail were simply wonderful experiences.

Reggie Chan, our travel guide and driver during this week, made this trip an exceptional journey, giving us the opportunity to visit some of the nicest places in Taiwan. An excellent guide, an interesting and very kind person.

They kept their promise, “Travel in Real Taiwan”
Our 4-day trip along the eastern coast of Taiwan from Kenting to Taipei.

My brother and his wife found Topology Travel – hooray for Google – and contacted Shirley Fang.

From that first encounter and right up until we left Taiwan again, and even after returning home, the service delivered by Shirley and our guide Vicky Chen has been absolutely exceptional, unreal and unmatched by any other travel agency we have ever worked with. Very, very professional, and yet very personal in every possible way.

Adventure Travel on the Pacific Coast of Taiwan
Our guide/driver, Clint Liang, met us in Taipei and took the high speed rail with us to Kaohsiung where he rented a car.

From there we traveled to Kenting, and up the east coast to Taitung, Haulien, Taroko Gorge, and finally back to Taipei. We stayed in perfectly situated boutique hotels that comfortably slept three of us, provided ample breakfasts, and were all unique.

Frequently Asked Questions for the East Coast Tour: Hualien and Taitung

Why Choose Topology Travel’s East Coast Tour: Hualien and Taitung Tour?

Many travelers dream of visiting Hualien and Taitung to experience the region’s unique natural beauty and slow pace. However, public transportation in eastern Taiwan can be limited. By joining our carefully curated tour, you can enjoy a hassle-free journey with all transportation seamlessly arranged.

We’ve carefully selected the must-visit attractions in Hualien and Taitung and incorporated wellness elements into the itinerary. Over four days, you’ll experience the region’s stunning natural beauty and rich indigenous culture, while enjoying restorative activities such as hot springs and foot massages—truly a unique and exclusive journey.

Our East Coast, Hualien, and Taitung tour operates as a small-group experience, limited to just 12 travelers. This allows you to enjoy quality time with your family or companions while also meeting new friends. (Of course, you can also upgrade to a private tour for a more exclusive experience.)

In contrast, many tours on the market accommodate 20 to 30 participants, which can affect the quality of your trip and often lead to wasted sightseeing time due to waiting or adjustments.

Moreover, our guides are not only professional but also passionate. They go beyond simply showing you the sights, sharing captivating local stories and insider tips—including must-try local delicacies—making your journey truly memorable and enriching.

What’s the difference between a package tour and a customised tour?

Our package tours are thoughtfully designed by our travel specialists to highlight the best of Taiwan’s regions. If you don’t have the time to research and plan your trip, a package tour is a time-saving option that still lets you experience the most exciting and iconic parts of Taiwan.

Package tours come with a fixed itinerary and cannot be modified based on individual preferences. However, if you find a package you like but would like to make some adjustments—or if you’d prefer to design your trip from scratch—you’re welcome to contact us via TW@topologytravel.com or fill out our Create your Trip form.

We’ll be happy to personalise your itinerary, but please note that the pricing for customised tours will differ from standard package tours.

Is this East Coast, Hualien and Taitung Tour suitable for children or seniors?

In general, this itinerary is suitable for travelers aged 3 and above. While some outdoor activities, such as kayaking or cycling, are gentle and easy-going, please consider the physical condition of your children and elderly family members before participating.

Is this itinerary wheelchair accessible?

This itinerary is not wheelchair accessible. If your group includes wheelchair users but still wishes to visit Hualien and Taitung, please contact us via TW@topologytravel.com or fill out our Create your Trip form. Our tour consultant will create a customized itinerary tailored to the needs and comfort of wheelchair users, ensuring an enjoyable and suitable travel experience.

What if the minimum group size isn’t met? How can I still join the tour?

You can still join the tour by covering the cost equivalent to the minimum required number of participants.

Can our group join this tour if we have more than 12 people?

Sure! If you are organizing a trip for a large family or a corporate group with more than 12 participants, please contact us. We will provide a customized quotation based on your actual group size.

Can I extend my trip?

Absolutely! You may add additional packages or contact us directly, and your tour consultant will recommend itineraries based on your total travel days.

On the last day, can I be dropped off at the airport?

The itinerary concludes at Taipei Main Station, from where you can take the Airport MRT to the airport or hire a taxi. We can also arrange a private transfer for an additional fee.

We recommend scheduling your flight after 9:00 PM to allow ample time. Otherwise, you may need to shorten the activities on your last day in Hualien.

Can you help book accommodation for the last night?

Yes, please contact us and let us know your preferred accommodation type or hotel category.

What type of accommodation is included in this itinerary? What room types are provided? And is it possible to upgrade or change the room type?

For this East Coast, Hualien and Taitung Tour, we’ll spend one night at a centrally located hotel in Hualien and another night in downtown Taitung, giving you easy access to explore the towns. For the final night, we’ve arranged a stay at a charming guesthouse along the East Coast, where you can fully embrace the unique “slow living” vibe of eastern Taiwan.

Rooms are set up for double occupancy. Please let us know in advance whether you prefer a large bed or two twin beds. You may also upgrade to a single room by paying the single supplement. If you prefer other room configurations, such as triple or quad rooms, please inform us ahead of time, and we will do our best to accommodate your request (additional costs may apply).
